Fashion legends say red outfits are the dopest of all. I don’t know about that, but red sure is enticing and hot as heaven, er… I mean as the weather in Rio de Janeiro. And yet, I wore it. Blame Baywatch!
Baywatch became one of the most watched TV shows in the world in the 90s, hugely thanks to frequent shots of Ms. Anderson running down the beach in slow motion to save swimmers in trouble. Ever since, I envisaged myself that it even comes with the lifebuoy that I would hold on to every time I would so famously run down the beach and dive into the water to save swimmers (Paradox is, I have already lived almost half my life and I still don’t know how to swim). Before you jump into a conclusion about my idolizing Pamela Anderson, for the record, no, I ain’t a fangirl, in fact it’s not even anything closer to it, having said that I can’t undo the fact that Pamela Anderson immortalised the red bathing suit.
Earlier in mid-March, on the eve of our 8th wedding anniversary, we have set voyage for the second time to South America. This time round, we went to Brazil and Chile. On 13th March, we arrived in Rio de Janeiro around mid-morning. After a much awaited shower, we dressed up in beachwear and headed out to explore comparatively the more beautiful beach of the city- Ipanema, located literally at our hotel’s doorstep. Call it anniversary special or Rio special, on day one, I’ve been allured to embrace the colour red in all its passionate and sublime meaning, beauty, and fashion statement, hence today’s blogpost.
Top tip: Wear a red swimsuit this summer, with confidence. Do not worry that you will be at risk of being the target of someone else’s body-shaming comments. Your body is yours, what others think of it is their problem.
Additional tip: For your little journey from hotel to beach, layer your swimwear with a denim shorts and a easy-breezy kimono. They are easy to slip on and off.
